About the WMGF Committee:

The We Mean Green Fund Committee is a volunteer student majority committee that recommends the allocation of funds from the Environmental Service Fee  to fund projects that increase the energy efficiency of facilities, reduce the amount of waste created on campus, encourage sustainable behaviors, and integrate all three tenets of sustainability into the campus culture: environmental, social, and economic.Some of the most recent projects recommended by the WMGF committee and paid for by the Environmental Service Fee:

WMGF Committee Member Benefits:

  • Participate and learn the process of project selection and evaluation
  • Advise project budgeting and allocation of more than $350,000

WMGF Committee Member Responsibilities:

  • Attend all WMGF monthly meetings, held every second Friday of the month at 12 p.m. in BLB 115
  • Review and recommend WMGF proposals for the approval by the Director of UNT Sustainability

Membership Eligibility:

  • Students, faculty, and staff (staff defined as anyone who works more than 20 hours for the university, not in a teaching role) may apply to serve on the committee
  • All student members of the WMGF Committee must be registered full or part-time UNT students during their term/s of office, hold a 2.5 GPA or higher and be in good standing with the university
  • Staff and faculty members of the committee must currently be employed by UNT, and be in good standing with the university

Membership Terms:

  • Each member of the WMGF Committee will be appointed to serve for one academic year
  • Faculty, staff and student members may serve successive terms, provided they reapply and are approved
  • Faculty and staff may serve no more than two consecutive terms
  • Terms begin on the first day of the fall semester and end on the last day of the summer term the following year
