April 23, 2015 | DENTON, Texas – The University of North Texas was ranked 42 of 353 universities reviewed for sustainability in The Princeton Review’s 2015 edition of “Guide to 353 Green Colleges.” This is the fifth year UNT has been included in the guide.
Members of the nationally ranked UNT Debate Team squared off in a standing-room-only room of the Gateway Center April 16 with people listening in a line out the door, said Carla Collette, UNT Sustainability outreach coordinator.
“We obviously hit a nerve – a topic of great interest and intense emotions,” said Brian Lain, Ph.D., UNT associate professor and director of UNT Debate, who moderated the student event.
NRG Energy, Inc., based in Princeton, N.J., and Houston, joins as a new participant this year along with other sustainability-conscious companies. NRG, always striving to make a difference in communities and in the environment works at developing and executing innovative solutions that protect the planet and connect people to needed resources. Other sustainers participating in Earth Week this year include local vendors and governmental agencies.
