Many times I’ve been asked, “How did someone with a fine art background get interested in sustainability?” Sustainability and artistic expression seem like two very different fields, but fine art is really about thinking “within the box” and trying to convey your vision, or create something with the resources you have at your disposal. Ask any art student at UNT about their art supply budget, and you’ll see what I mean.
DENTON, TX – The University of North Texas now has a new way for students to live green in the residence halls on campus. The recently added We Mean Green REAL Community, to be located in Maple Hall starting fall 2014, is an immersive experience in environmental, social, and economic change.
Students who live in the community will have the opportunity to engage in special projects on campus, as well as participate in workshops and field trips. These activities will give students a unique college experience that delivers a broad perspective of sustainability that can apply to any field of study. The community is also geared to encourage behavior change that will instill healthy and sustainable habits.
